Here we are in the Shrieking Shack
Here we are at the end at last
My hands are cold, my cloak is wet
From blood that flows down from my neck

Progeny of my love and hate
Atonement is here, for all my mistakes

Before I can be free
I give you every memory
Take it all, my last sacrifice
And look at me with your mother’s eyes

This haunting pain is borne for you
This haunting pain is born from love
And every time I see your face
I’m reminded of all the choices I’ve made

Progeny of my love and hate
See how my Dark Mark begins to fade?

Chorus

    • Hi Ainsley, thanks for your comment! I’ve updated the page with chords, as requested. They might not be entirely accurate though, as I’ve left the chords on a napkin in Sydney and I’m currently in England without access to a piano, so I can’t check to make sure they’re all correct. If you decide to make your own recording, please share it with me as I’d love to hear your take/s!

  1. Miss Samantha Lin,

Your song is perfect as it is — forget the chatter of others, YOU saw into the heart of a very complex character easy to misunderstand, and expressed your insight in human song, so absolutely beautiful, in melancholy sublime beauty not of this earth, bittersweet tears can be the only human response to…not rationalistic negative critique…

Congratulations on your aesthetic achievement, kindred soul. Let no one let you think your creative impulse regarding Snape, ever lacked a thing.

  2. You made such a beautiful song! As beautiful as Snape’s love for Lily… Thanks for your heart-touching work. I love Snape and you describe his feeling amazingly. I downloaded it, thank you! :)

  3. Okay, you just make me cry, it’s just beautiful *-* This is a perfect song and we can feel the love from Snape. And your voice it’s just awesome, the music too !
    Congratulations for this beautiful song
(and sorry for my english, I’m french ^^’ )

  4. The song is beautiful indeed…Thank you so much for the chords…
Do you have the instrumental version? I don’t have a piano so I could sing with the music if there was an instrumental version…:)

    • Hi Pratyusha, thanks for leaving a comment! Unfortunately, I don’t have an instrumental version of this, and I don’t intend to make one. I have a very bad habit of not writing down the (very few) musical pieces I come up with, so I’m afraid I don’t even know how the accompaniment goes, and will have to make it up every time!

However, I think there might be sound-editing programs out there that can “remove” the voice and leave just the piano accompaniment? Perhaps that might work. I’m sorry I can’t be of much help!
